Who Do You Think You Are?

"I thank You, High God-- You're breathtaking!  Body and soul, I am marvelously made!  I worship in adoration-- what a creation!" Psalm 139:14 (The Message)

Over a month ago, I became a live-in nanny.  One thing I have been trying to do since I began is to try and learn some things from the kids often.  Children can have a unique outlook on life and on God that I so desire to have.

Yesterday I took the kids bowling.  Both of the boys got the ball stuck some point in our game and we had to go get an employee to help us.  The first time, I didn't mind getting the employee.  The second time, however, I was a tad embarrassed since the instances were so close together. . . I should be able to avoid this problem, right?  Both times we went up to the man, the boys were very straightforward about needing help.  The second time, the younger boy (3 years) marched right up to the man without any hesitation, even though he was chatting with someone else.  I told him that he was bold, and he said "Yeah, I'm bold!"  I'm pretty sure he has no idea what the word bold means right now, but agreed with what I told him just because I'm "Miss Charisse".

The Lord spoke to me through this.  When He calls me bold, strong, brave, courageous, beautiful or whatever, I should believe Him because He is God.  Even when I don't fully comprehend what He is saying, I just need to trust that He is God, He is good, so what He is telling me must be good and true.  This lesson is hard to learn, as I, like everyone else, am continually bombarded with the lies of the enemy trying to steal my destiny, kill me, and destroy my life and the plans that God has for me.  However, I must combat these lies with the truth of what God says.

I'm trying to get to the point where I always respond to God with, "Yeah, I am what You say I am!"  I am learning to trust just because He is God.  He is always right and would never lie to me, so how can I call Him a liar by denying who He says I am?  This is an on-going process right now, and a battle that I will win!
